Common questions

How are lessons delivered?

All lessons are online via Zoom with screen sharing. You'll need a computer or laptop — a tablet can work for theory but isn't ideal for coding sessions.

Where are you based, and do you tutor in person?

I'm based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, but all tutoring is online via Zoom rather than in person. That means I work with students right across the UK, and you get the same screen-sharing, live-coding session wherever you are.

What difference does it make that you are an examiner?

I mark real papers as a Senior Examiner, so I know precisely how marks are awarded and where students lose them. Sessions focus not just on knowing the content but on writing answers the way a mark scheme rewards — which is usually the gap between a grade 7 and a grade 9.

Which exam boards do you cover?

AQA, OCR, Cambridge International, Eduqas, and Edexcel at GCSE. AQA, OCR, and Cambridge at A Level. I also have experience with the OCR Entry Level Computer Science qualification.

Do you help with NEA coursework?

Yes. NEA support is one of the areas I specialise in. Students regularly move up multiple mark bands with targeted coursework sessions.

What if I'm a complete beginner?

Completely fine. I always start from your current capability level — there's no assumed knowledge. Many students start with no prior programming experience.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions are £60 per hour, at every level and for every exam board. There is no separate registration fee, and the first conversation to discuss what you need is free.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your goals and current level. Most students book weekly sessions in the run-up to exams, or fortnightly throughout the year. We'll discuss what suits you in the first session.
